So this first update is a lot later than I had planned it on being. Graduating from college and moving 400 miles away to my new school only a week after needed a lot of adjustment along with starting a new job and getting used to my new surroundings. I know that everyone has already talked about the Avengers movie but I just wanted to give my take on the subject and point out some of my favorite parts. I actually enjoyed it and I went to see it in movie theaters twice in the same week. Usually when I watch any superhero movies I usually nitpick at all the differences between the movie and the comic book storyline not this time it all seem to fit perfectly even though they didn’t use the original Avengers (lets be real the majority of the audience wouldn’t really know who the Wasp and the Ant-Man are anyways).
The Story
The way the movie starts off is with Loki transporting in through a portal in order to grab the tesseract and a few of Shield’s top agents (Hawkeye) and research (Nick Fury tries to walk off with the tesseract).Around this time, the disruption caused by the tesseract destroys the entire Shield base. The next thing we see is Natasha Romanov (Black Widow) being interrogated by what I assumed was the mafia being called in to Shield.
Shield then calls in The Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America (not necessarily in that order). They find out that the Shield Headquarters is on an aircraft. The computers on the Shield HQ locate Loki in Germany. They find Loki terrorizing the masses after and Captain America manages to shield one of the crowds from an attack by Loki. Later when they have captured Loki and are heading back to HQ Thor appears and leaves with Loki. Iron Man and Captain have a brief fight with Thor and then get him to agree to bring Loki back to HQ. Upon returning to HQ Loki is placed in a cell that had been meant for the Hulk. Bruce Banner and Tony Stark get to work on locating the tesseract and discuss what it was supposed to be used for. Captain America argues that Shield should be trusted while Stark says that they should not. When Captain leaves he goes and snoops around in the restricted area while Stark and Banner continue their work. Meanwhile Natasha is questioning Loki about his future plans and Loki lets slip that his plan is to release the Hulk on the airship. As Natasha hurries back to contain Banner, Fury is alerted that someone has broken into the Shield systems and when they come to the bay Captain America confronts Fury with a weapon he found in the restricted area and a few seconds later Stark has pulled up the designed for WMDs. They all begin to argue about the need for such weapons and Captain America challenges Iron Man to a fight.
At that time the airship is attacked by Hawkeye and other members of Loki ‘recruits’. Banner and Natasha fall through the floor. Iron Man, Captain America and Thor go to investigate. Banner changes into Hulk and chases after Natasha and is fought by Thor while Captain America and Iron Man go to fix the engine. Thor goes to Loki’s cell only to be tricked by one of Loki’s illusions and is dropped 10,000 ft to the ground after Loki stabs Phil the agent. Natasha manages to knockout Hawkeye and the Hulk jumps out of the airship to attack a plane that fires at him. In the aftermath, Fury lays a guilt trip on Iron Man and Captain America using Phil the agent in order to make them feel worse. Later on Stark is attempting to figure out where Loki will appear next and realizes that his new Tower will be the next location. Natasha is with a recovering Hawkeye and they leave with Stark and Captain America in order to intercept Loki (around this time we see that Thor and Banner are okay).
When they get to Stark Towers Stark confronts Loki and tells him why his plans will never work, Loki throw him out the window and the battle begins in earnest. Captain America, Natasha and Hawkeye fight on the ground while Stark fights in the air. Soon Thor and Banner show up and join the battle. They realize that they will have to shut down the tesseract to win the battle. Meanwhile back at Shield HQ the government heads are sending a missile to destroy Manhattan . While Natasha figures out how to close the portal, Iron Man intercepts the missile and takes it to the portal. Upon getting it through the portal his system shut down and as he falls back towards the portal it obliterates the enemy ships. He is caught by the Hulk after falling through the portal and for a while his heart has stopped and then it restarts after Hulk roars.
After the battle you see flashes of what has happened news reports, people blaming the avengers, Thor and Loki returning home, and the rest of the Avengers going their separate ways. At the end Fury assures the government will come when they are needed and the credits roll. After credits we see a figure (I’ve heard it was Thantos but I don’t know myself who it was.) who was apparently behind the whole thing.
The Actors
• Robert Downey Jr. – I love this actor as Iron Man. It just makes sense to me. I love the fact that he is so snarky and sarcastic all the time.
• Chris Evans – As Captain American he makes the part of this All-American who believes strongly in his country and is willing to fight for the greater good.
• Mark Ruffalo – Never heard of him before this movie but he worked well for the part.
• Chris Hemsworth – Okay as Thor not really much of an opinion on him as Thor.
• Scarlett Johansson – No complaints about her as the Black Widow.
• Jeremy Renner – Loved him as the silent but deadly Hawkeye.
• Samuel L. Jackson – Amazing as Nick Fury as always, I love how he portrays the head agent of Shield.
